About the MODALITY

Kundalini Yoga is an ancient-future technology designed to unlock your inner vitality, clear emotional blockages, and elevate your consciousness. At Respair Retreat, we are honored to learn from Heather, founder of Swanlove Holistics and resident teacher at CIVANA—a masterful guide and dear friend of Emily. Each day, Heather will lead us through an accessible, breath-centered practice focused on releasing specific emotional ‘trip wires’ stored in the body—like anger and frustration in the liver—so we can make space for more joy, creativity, and peace. No experience is needed, and there’s nothing to be intimidated by—this is a practice of expansion, designed for every body and every level.

Kundalini Yoga is different from Hatha or Ashtanga Yoga in that it focuses less on physical postures and more on breathwork, dynamic movement, mantra, and meditation to activate and move energy through the body. While Hatha emphasizes steady poses and Ashtanga follows a structured sequence of powerful flows, Kundalini is designed to clear energetic blocks, strengthen the nervous system, and awaken deep awareness. It often includes kriyas (specific sets of movements, breath, and sound) that target emotional patterns stored in the body, making it a powerful tool for transformation. Unlike other yoga styles, it’s highly accessible—no flexibility or prior experience needed, just an open mind and willingness to shift.
